Last day in Stockholm
The trip is coming to an end. We had a leisurely breakfast at the hotel
(the usual breakfast buffet, with a wonderful selection of breads,
cheeses, fruits, meats, etc.), then checked out and took the T-Bahn to
our hotel at the central station. We were lucky, the rooms were ready
for check-in, so we deposited our luggage and took off for the Nordiska
Museum. We got there before most, and spent a couple of hours looking
at a collection of old photos, a display about Strindberg, an exhibit
about the evolution of stripes in fashion and symbolism, and a permanent
display about holiday traditions in Sweden. By that time, we were
ready for lunch. Fish soup at Kaysa's in Hötorget, and à half an hour
just taking in the sights and sounds of the deli markets, including the
fresh fruit and veggie stands in the square. lots of fresh
chanterelles, which we wished we could bring back. A short rest at the
hotel, then off to Gamla Stan for ice cream and photos. A nice ending
to a great trip for me, and I think Becky enjoyed having company for the
last part of her trip. Tomorrow we head home!
